We aren’t your typical Silicon Valley startup. No foosball tables, free lunches, or company trips to tropical destinations. We are a small but mighty team trying to drive massive change in the auto industry. That’s why we are so proud to have been named one of the 2020 Best Workplaces in the Bay Area.
Great Place to Work and Fortune considered more than 33,000 employee submissions and 60+ different experiences on the job in order to arrive at their final rankings. They looked at areas like the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is amongst the team.
Named alongside some exceptional Bay Area companies, we are honored to take #26 on the list for small and medium-sized companies. So what sets us apart in order to even be considered for something like this?

We have worked tirelessly to hire top talent that is passionate about our mission and the people they work with. This has created a culture that has defined our DRIVEN values– Dedicated, Real, Inclusive, Visionary, Empowering and Never Boring. We are passionate, focused and hard-working. We are genuine and sincere. We are original and creative. We promote ownership and inspire action. We keep it light-hearted and love to have fun with one another. But above all else, we are a family first and foremost.
We might not have the litany of perks that typical startups have, but we strive to take care of our employees in ways that really matter. We listen to our team and respond with authenticity. We ensure our employees have access to multiple top tier health and wellness offerings, contributing heavily to their costs. We enable our team members to manage their work when and how they need to, and provide a flexible time-off policy. We give two paid days a year to encourage our employees to volunteer in their communities. We recognize our employees through our peer-selected DRIVEN awards. And we focus on helping our employees succeed, through onboarding, training, internal role transitions, and an annual learning and development stipend.

But we also take time to commit to building meaningful relationships with each other, with an emphasis on fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We host new hire happy hours, bond through various employee resource groups, connect through our Donut social app, and especially love spending time together in person. With a heavily distributed workforce, we find huge value in bringing the entire company together twice a year at our headquarters in San Francisco to listen, learn, and laugh.
We are humbled every day by the challenges of driving change, impassioned by what we want to accomplish, and united in our goals. As we’ve said before, we couldn’t be any tighter than if we all tried to cram inside a 1963 VW Beetle.
